VN consistently expects stronger ties with Cambodia

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed Viet Nam consistently wishes to continue consolidating and developing the "good neighborhood, traditional friendship, comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation" with Cambodia.

The Vietnamese Government chief made the point at his meeting with Cambodian PM Samdech Techo Hun Sen on the margin of the second Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Wednesday.

The two PMs expressed their pleasure at the positive advancements of the relations between the two countries in recent time, hailing the two sides’ close coordination during the Viet Nam-Cambodia Friendship Year in 2017.

In a friendly and trustful atmosphere, the pair discussed practical measures to further deepen cooperation in such fields like trade, transport, finance and banking among others.

They agreed to foster land border demarcation and landmark planting to complete this work as soon as possible.

Both sides also agreed to actively push the legal status of Cambodian people of Vietnamese origin on the basis of Cambodia’s law and the friendly neighboring relations between the two countries.

The two sides agreed to continue effective measures to help their people, particularly the youth understand well about the values of the bilateral friendship and comprehensive cooperation built with bones and blood of generations of the two countries.

PM Phuc took the occasion to wish that Cambodia would successfully organize the Senate election in February and National Assembly election in July this year./.
