Exhibition of Chinese and Vietnamese paintings on lunar New Year

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien, who is on an official visit to China, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Dang Minh Khoi, Chinese cultural officials and others attended the opening ceremony. 

Addressing the event ceremony, Director of the MoCST’s International Cooperation Department Nguyen Trung Khanh said the event is expected to raise the awareness among Vietnamese and Chinese people of the significance of the biggest traditional festival of the two nations.

Through the event, visitors will see the similarities in cultural and historical values of Viet Nam and China, which have helped consolidate the growing friendship between the two nations, he said.

Accordingly, a collection of Vietnamese folk paintings such as Dong Ho, Hang Trong painting on Tet, worshipping and state affairs are exhibited. 

Chinese folk paintings clearly reflect similarities with Vietnam’s tradition of buying  Tet pictures to create warmness and send wishes for a prosperous and happy new year. 

Especially, artisans introduced traditional culture and helped visitors to study and participate in several stages of painting creation to preserve traditional values and folklore beauties of the paintings. 

The exhibition is jointly organised by Viet Nam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) and China’s Ministry of Culture.

The event runs until January 15th./.
