The deputy PM made the call at a reception for EIB Vice President Jonathan Taylor in Ha Noi on January 9.

He thanked the EIB for its specific steps in supporting Viet Nam over the past few years, stating that multifaceted cooperation between Viet Nam and the European Union (EU) is growing smoothly, particularly in the spheres of economy, trade and investment, thereby contributing significantly to the development of Viet Nam and EU member states.

Viet Nam currently has a big demand for resources in service of infrastructure development, Dung said, stating that the country is in need of developing the North-South Expressway, airports, seaports, as well as clean and renewable energy sources.

As one of the countries most affected by climate change and sea level rise, Viet Nam urgently  needs resources to serve the sustainable development of vulnerable areas and the effective adaptation to the negative effects of climate change, he said.

The deputy PM asked the EIB Vice President to work specifically with Vietnamese ministries and sectors in order to promptly concretize cooperation opportunities.

Agreeing with Dung’s specific recommendations, Jonathan Taylor stated that these are also the priorities in his bank’s development policy.

During their stay in Viet Nam, the EIB’s working delegation will work with the Vietnamese Ministries of Industry and Trade, Natural Resources and Environment, and Transport, to soon work out the specific cooperation programs and projects between the two sides, he noted.
