VN People's Army Chief praises defence ties with Japan

VGP - Sen. Lieut. Gen. Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) in Ha Noi on January 8 received Chief of Staff of the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force Gen. Koji Yamazaki.

At the reception, Sen. Lieut. Gen. Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army (VPA) said effective defence cooperation between Viet Nam and Japan, including the ties between the two ground forces, has made significant contributions to the bilateral friendship.

In turn, Gen. Koji Yamazaki said that he is delighted at visiting and learning about Vietnamese land and people and the VPA.

Earlier, he held talks with Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the VPA Lieut. Gen. Pham Hong Huong, during which they discussed cooperation orientations between the two forces, especially the participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions, humanitarian relief, disaster settlement and military medicine collaboration.

They briefed each other on ground force' operations, and defence policies, and compared notes on regional and international issues of shared concern.
