Gov’t management hallmarks in 2017 (Part 2)

VGP – Under the spirit “Enabling the Government of integrity, drastic action, and serving people” in 2017, the Government and PM issued a string of documents with a view to promoting socio-economic development, ensuring social security, and building a streamlined, professional, and effective State apparatus.

Besides economic developments, PM Phuc always attached importance to perfecting social welfare policies and taking care of people’s material and spiritual lives.

National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc issued Directive 01/CT-TTg on January 6 on increasing leadership for National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in the period of 2016 to 2020. The directive focuses on three groups of policies including production and income support for poor households; effective assistance for the poor to access to basic social services; and infrastructure development for difficult regions and high poverty rates. 

Developing social houses

The PM issued Directive 03/CT-TTg, dated January 25, 2017, asking ministers, agencies, and localities to promote social houses with a view to implementing the Strategy on national housing development up to 2020 with a vision toward 2030. 

Under Decree 47/2017/ND-CP, dated April 24, 2017, since July 1, 2017, basic wage level for cadres, civil servants, and people in armed forces since July 1, 2017 will be raised to VND 1,300,000 per month (the previous basic wage of VND 1,210,000 per month).

Higher subsidy for people with merit

Decree No. 70/2017/NĐ-CP provides preferential allowance and subsidy levels for people with meritorious services to the revolution that will increase from VND1,318,000 to VND1,417,000.

Renewal and development of social support

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc issued Decision 488/QD-TTg, dated April 4, 2017 on  approving the Scheme on renewal and development of social support activities during 2017-2025 with a vision toward 2030.  

Prevention violence against children

The PM issued Directive 18/CT-TTg, dated May 16, 2017 on increasing measures to prevent and combat violence against children and child encroachment. 

Supporting gender equality in ethnic monitory area

The Government issued Decision 1898/QD-TTg, dated November 28, 2017 supporting gender equality in ethnic monitory areas in the 2018-2025 period./.
