Two Vietnamese cities among world’s top destinations in 2018

The biggest bookings go through the familiar popular destinations Tokyo, Paris, Osaka, New York, London and Rome.

Based on booking data in the first half of 2018, Airbnb announced a list of the world’s top 10 destinations for the coming year. Viet Nam is seeing booking surges in the cities of Ha Noi (212%) and Da Nang (255%), “which blend gleaming waterfronts and centuries-old architecture with cosmopolitan amenities,” the site said in report earlier this month.

The two cities are among the most popular destinations in Viet Nam’s fast-growing tourism market. Ha Noi expects 4.3 million foreign visitors this year, up more than 7% from 2016.

Da Nang, which hosts the annual international fireworks festival and welcomed world leaders for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting  in November, is seeing a staggering 37 percent increase in foreign arrivals, to 2.3 million.

In the annual Top City Destinations Ranking report issued early last month at the World Travel Market event in London, Ha Noi, the 1,000-year-old city, ranks 52nd among the world’s 100 leading cities in terms of international tourist arrivals as this year it looks to welcome 4.3 million foreign travelers, up 7.5%.
