The inauguration ceremony of the book room was the last event of the Vietnamese Embassy in India in 2017 to mark the 45th establishment anniversary of Viet Nam- India diplomatic ties (1972- 2017).

At the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Ton Sinh Thanh introduced a collection of nearly 1,000 book titles on various fields of Viet Nam written in English, including several books featuring late President Ho Chi Minh.

A handful of books feature Viet Nam-India relations as well as President Ho Chi Minh, a national liberation hero, a cultural celebrity honoured by UNESCO and a great friend of the Indian people, he said.

He highlighted the opening of the book room as pragmatic activities to propel the further development of the Viet Nam-India comprehensive strategic partnership forward in the future.

The book room is situated at the Central Secretariat Library of India that was founded in 1891 with about 650,000 volumes at present.
