Ha Noi honours outstanding businesses and entrepreneurs in 2017

VGP – A total of 120 entrepreneurs and enterprises in Ha Noi, which have performed brilliantly in their production and social activities during the past year, were honoured at the “Business Night 2017” program on December 28.

Addressing the event, Chairman of the Ha NoiPeople’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung praised the efforts and contributions made by Ha Noi’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) community to the capital city’s development.

The Ha Noi economy continued to grow rapidly in 2017, with major balances ensured, he said, adding that Ha Noi’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increased by 7.3%, the highest within the last seven years.

More than 25,100 new businesses were established in Ha Noi so far this year, with a total registered capital of VND240 trillion (US$10.56 billion). There is now one business per 38 citizens, 3.7 times higher than the country’s average level, Chung stated.

Accounting for more than 97% of the businesses in the city, the SMEs community has seen constant development and contributed to over 40% of Ha Noi’s gross domestic product (GDP). In 2017, the section of household businesses contributed actively to the city’s budget revenue. The local business community provides employment for nearly 2.5 million laborers and creates new jobs for over 140,000 workers annually.

The Ha Noi SMEs Association has actively performed its role as a connection bridge between businesses and State management agencies, as well as between businesses and their partners, Chung affirmed. 

At the “Business Night 2017”, Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue, Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung and President of the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Vu Tien Loc presented 120 outstanding entrepreneurs and enterprises with noble titles, such as the Labor Order, the Government’s emulation flag and the certificate of merit from the PM and the Hanoi People’s Committee.

According to Mac Quoc Anh, Vice President and General Secretary of the Ha Noi Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) Association, the “Business Night” program is held annually by the association, aiming to honour companies with significant achievements in production activities, and offer a platform for firms to meet and share experience.    

Attracting the participation of over 600 businesses in Ha Noi, the “Business Night 2017” provided an opportunity for local enterprises to share their business secrets and discuss cooperation directions, towards contributing to the sustainable economic development of Ha Noi in particular and the country as a whole.
