Total social investment in 2017 up 12.1%

VGP – The total social investment was estimated at VND1.67 quadrillion, up 12.1% against in 2016 and accounting for 33.3% of the GDP, according to a report on socio-economic development performances in 2017 of the General Statistics Office.

The social investment from the State, non-State and foreign-invested sectors achieved VND 594,900 billion (accounting for 35.7%), VND676,300 billion (accounting for 40.5%) and VND396,200 billion (accounting for 23.8%), witnessing respective increases of 6.7%, 16.8% and 12.8%. 

The realized social investment from the State budget reached VND290,500 billion, accounting for 94.4% of the year’s plan.

As of December 20, the total newly-registered and additional capital from the foreign-invested sector attained US$29.7 billion, up 44.2%. The realized capital was estimated at US$17.5 billion, up 10.8%. 

As much as US$6.2 billion was poured to purchase shares and charter capital of local companies by foreign investors.
