Wood exports surpass target set for 2017

VGP – Viet Nam gained US$7.2 billion from exporting wood and wooden products from January 1 to December 15, according to the statistics from Viet Nam Customs.

The nation’s wood exports will reach US$7.6 billion by the end of 2017, surpassing the yearly target of US$7.5 billion set by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

In November alone, wood exports rose nearly 3% against October to hit 695.3 million USD, raising 11-month shipment value of wood and timber products to US$6.9 billion, an annual rise of 11%.

In January-November, the U.S. imported the most from Viet Nam, with purchase turnover of more than US$2.9 billion, up 17.6%, followed by China with US$964.4 million, up 6.76% and Japan US$929.3 million, up 5.14%.

Wood exports to other markets such as the Republic of Korea (RoK), the UK, Australia and Canada exceeded US$100 million.
