The decision was made following his meeting with leaders of the Ministry of Transport, relevant agencies and Tien Giang province in Ha Noi on December 4.

Over the past days, drivers used small changes to pay tolls as they claimed the station should be placed along the bypass instead of the National Highway No. 1, causing heavy traffic jam on the National Highway.

At the meeting, PM Phuc affirmed that the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model in infrastructure development is a right policy and it should continue to be implemented.

A press conference will be held by the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Information and Communications to announce the final solutions, the PM requested.

He also tasked the Ministry of Transport to submit a report on comprehensive evaluation of investment mechanisms for BOT projects and speed up electronic toll collection.

Cai Lay bypass  is one of the 88 BOT projects that have been developed in line with the Party and Government’s resolutions in a bid to modernize the country’s transport system, said Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The.

Inspectors from the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the State Audit have been investigating this project and strict punishments will be applied if wrongdoings are found, The said./.
