DPM hails initial outcomes of VN-Eurasian Economic Union FTA

VGP – Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh hailed initial outcomes of the implementation of the free trade agreement officially signed in 2015 by Viet Nam and the Eurasian Economic Union, during his reception for Kazakh Deputy FM Akylbek Kamaldinov in Ha Noi on Monday.

He said the trade deal has contributed to raising the bilateral trade volume between Viet Nam and Kyrgyzstan to US$184 million in the first nine months this year, almost equivalent to the total figure of 2016.

He urged the two countries to take more measures to continue effective realization of the trade deal.

Kazakh Deputy FM Akylbek Kamaldinov spoke highly of Viet Nam’s socioeconomic achievements over the past years and extended congratulations to Viet Nam for successfully hosting the APEC Year 2017.

Earlier the same day, Deputy FM Dang Dinh Quy and his Kazakh counterpart Akylbek Kamaldinov discussed on ways to beef up bilateral cooperation at their political consultation.

The two sides also talked on cooperation and security in Asia-Pacific, emphasizing the importance of peace, stability and maritime security, safety and freedom in the East Sea and peaceful settlement of disputes on the basis of international law.

The pair agreed to foster trade and investment ties and create favorable conditions for the two countries’ business circles set up partnership in such fields like agriculture, processing and manufacuring, infrastructure development, and defense industry among others.

On December 5, Kazakh Deputy FM Akylbek Kamaldinov will co-chair the 8th meeting of the Viet Nam-Kazakhstan Inter-Governmental Committee for economic, trade, scientific and technological cooperation./.
