At the meeting, Dam stressed that education, science and technology has been a traditional field of cooperation between Viet Nam and Poland since 1960, with thousands of Vietnamese students and PhD candidates trained in Poland having been contributing their knowledge to Viet Nam’s national construction and development.

The trend of increasingly extensive integration, together with the rapid development of science and technology, are not only the requirements but also the conditions enabling both sides to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in education, science and technology, he stated.

The two deputy PMs spoke highly of the new higher educational cooperation agreement signed between the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training, which includes the increase of the number of scholarships offered to each other to 20 annually. On the basis of this agreement, the two sides will strengthen the exchange of students in the fields of Poland’s strength and Viet Nam’s demand, such as engineering, mining geology, agriculture and the food industry.

Together with the signing of a letter of intent on the establishment of a Polish training course between the Ha Noi University and the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Deputy PM Dam asked the two education ministries to soon negotiate and sign an agreement on the recognition of equivalent qualifications, aiming to create favorable conditions for the two countries’ students and PhD candidates in performing admission procedures.

In regards to the field of science and technology, the two deputy PMs agreed that the relevant agencies of both countries should prepare well for the organization of the next meeting of the Viet Nam-Poland Joint Committee on science and technology cooperation in 2018.
