Top Legislator meets with Singaporean PM

VGP – Viet Nam consistently attaches importance to fostering the strategic partnership with Singapore, affirmed NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan during her meeting with PM Lee Hsien Loong.

The Vietnamese top legislator, who is on an official visit to Singapore, extended thanks to PM Lee for attending the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Da Nang, contributing to the success of the event and for his support for the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), previously known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

She vowed to actively work with Singapore as the Chair of ASEAN in 2018 and as the coordinator of the ASEAN-China dialogue relations, expressing her belief that Singapore would make significant contribution to further strengthen ASEAN solidarity and central role in regional cooperation.

Ms. Ngan also spoke highly of Singapore’s positive position on the East Sea issue, hoping that Singapore would continue its efforts as the ASEAN Chair next year to boost the formation of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea  (COC).

PM Lee affirmed Singapore will do its utmost to contribute to settling the remaining issues, including accelerating the formation of the COC.

He suggested both sides should open more direct air routes to beef up trade and economic ties and effectively realize the signed agreements.
