Vietnamese State President meets with top leaders of Laos, Cambodia

At the meeting with the Lao General Secretary and President, the Vietnamese State President reiterated that Viet Nam always supports the Lao people in their national development.

General Secretary and President Vorachith thanked Viet Nam for inviting his country to be a guest at the APEC-ASEAN dialogue, adding that this time’s APEC meetings have helped promote Viet Nam’s role and stature in the region and the world.

On behalf of the Lao Party, State and people, he presented US$100,000 as financial aid to people affected by storm Damrey in the central region of Viet Nam.

At the meeting, the leaders voiced their delight at various activities held in both countries during the Year of Viet Nam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship, which have helped the two peoples, especially younger generations, understand more about the countries’ special relationship.

They pledged that the two nations will enhance bilateral cooperation in multiple fields, including politics, security, defense, economy, trade, investment, education-training and culture, and coordinate closely at regional and international forums.

State President Quang once again invited Vorachith to pay a visit to Viet Nam later this year to review the Year of Vietnam-Lao Solidarity ad Friendship. The Lao leader accepted the invitation with pleasure.

While meeting Cambodian PM Hun Sen on the same day, State President Tran Dai Quang affirmed Viet Nam’s consistent policy of attaching importance to the friendship and cooperation with Cambodia.

Both sides expressed their delight at the fruitful cooperation between Viet Nam and Cambodia across fields, bringing pragmatic interests to people of the two countries.

They noted the coordination between the two sides’ relevant agencies and localities in organizing the 2017 Viet Nam-Cambodia Friendship Year celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
