Vietnamese, Canadian PMs chair press briefing

PM Phuc highly spoke of the official visit of PM Justin Trudeau and the Canadian high-ranking delegation.

He said that at the successful talks, the two PMs exchanged views on the bilateral ties; orientations and measures to cement and deepen the comprehensive cooperative ties in the coming time in the interest of the respective country, in favor of peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world. 

Especially, on this occasion, the two countries agreed to set up the framework of the Viet Nam-Canada comprehensive partnership. This will be an important legal framework for the two countries to further cement and deepen their existing cooperative ties in all fields. 

Both sides were unanimous that in the coming time they will work to implement the contents clarified in the framework on politics, diplomatic, trade, investment, development cooperation, education and training, and other potential fields including national security, science and technology, and agricultural development. The two countries will work together at international forums like the UN, APEC, the Francophonie, and on regional and international issues of common concerns.

PM Phuc praised Canada’s diplomatic policy which strengthens connectivity with the Asia-Pacific Region and the Southeast Asian Region, attaches importance to ASEAN and Viet Nam in the region. 

On his part, PM Justin Trudeau expressed his pleasure to visit Viet Nam. He said that the Canada-Viet Nam comprehensive partnership will be an important legal framework for the two countries to further advance their existing cooperative ties in all fields.

He expressed his belief that bilateral relations will grow further, including economic cooperation.

Regarding Canada’s participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement, PM Trudeau affirmed that Canada attaches importance to international trade collaboration as it helps generate jobs, boost economic development and improve people’s living conditions. Canada has actively taken part in TPP negotiations in an effort to promote economic growth, he added./.
