Russia, Japan provide aids for VN

Russian President’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that Russia has mobilized efforts from necessary agencies and vehicles for the aid. 

Russia calls on the global community, including those attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting, to show solidarity with Vietnamese people, he added. 

President Putin discussed with PM Dmitri Medvedev, Minister of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief Vladimir Puchkov, and Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov about consequences caused by the storm in Viet Nam. 

The Japanese Government decided to provide 105 water purification devices  to help local people in the central provinces of Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). 

The aid arrived in the central city of Da Nang on November 7. On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control received the aid and transferred to people living in flooding areas as soon as possible. 

The assistance manifests Japan's close cooperation with Viet Nam to help local people seriously suffered from typhoon Damrey overcome consequences.

Causing the most serious damage over the past two decades, typhoon Damrey made landfall in central Vietnam at a time when the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week is ongoing in the central city of Da Nang from November 6-11. 

The typhoon has so far left 69 dead, 30 injured, tens of thousands of people evacuated, and collapsed over 120,700 houses.
