VNPT launches communication joint-venture in Myanmar

VGP - StreamNet, a joint venture between Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and Myanmar’s Elite Telecom Public Co., Ltd., was launched in Yangon on October 27.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan said the establishment of StreamNet to develop telecom infrastructure and provide broadband services in Myanmar between firms from the two countries reflects the success of the Viet Nam-Myanmar comprehensive partnership.

He said he believes StreamNet will help  the Myanmar government achieve goals of developing the local telecoms market.

By 2015, VNPT became a partner of Elite Telecom Puplic Company. In September, 2017, StreamNet Company was officially established with total investment capital of US$ 15 million in the first phase, of these, VNPT contributed 67 percent and Elite Telecom was 33 percent over total capital. 

After StreamNet company is put into the operation, it will provide communication services including FTTx, Leased Line VPN, IP transit, satellite system, email, web hosting to the people of Myanmar.
