IPI soars 8.7% in Jan-Oct

VGP – Industrial production index (IPI) continued to growth sharply in October and the first ten months, the General Statistics Office (GSO) reported.

Specifically, IPI was estimated to go up 17% in October against the previous  month of which the mining industry expanded 2.1%; processing and manufacturing surged sharply by 22.3%; electricity production and distribution picked up 12%; and water supply and sewage treatment increased 8%.

In the first ten months, IPI witnessed a year-on-year growth of 8.7%.

Manufacturing and processing  continued to increase vigorously by 13.6%. Electricity production and distribution went up 9.3%. Water supply and sewage treatment rose 7.5%. Only mining experienced a drop of 7.4%. 

In the first ten months, large-scale industrial hubs witnessed rising IPIs including Bac Ninh province (up 32%); Hai Phong (up 20%); Thai Nguyen (up 17.9%); Hai Duong (up 10.1%); Binh Duong (up9.7%). 

In September, consumption index of processing and manufacturing increased by 3.7% against August and 17.8% against the same period last year.

As of October 1, inventory level of the manufacturing and processing sector went up 8.8% against the same period last year./.
