Addressing the 2007 Agenda Meeting by the National Committee for HIV/AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Control, the Deputy PM ordered that to successfully control HIV/AIDS, drug and prostitution in the time to come, the local authorities should look back, analyze and assess their performance in the drive against HIV/AIDS, drug and prostitution to see what have been achieved and what have not, then find out the causes, draw lessons learnt and suggest solutions to problems as well as revisions and supplementations to legislation pertaining to HIV/AIDS, drug and prostitution. The bottom line is to stop HIV/AIDS spreading and sharply reduce drug addiction and prostitution in Vietnam in the coming years.

The meeting sets goals for HIV/AIDS and drug control in 2007, including:

- to keep the HIV infection incidence below 0.27% among the population;

- to make 80% of the city residents and 50% of the rural people properly know how to keep themselves protected from HIV/AIDS infection;

- to provide 10,000 AIDS patients and 100% of the newborns carrying HIV with medical treatment;

- to launch operations against drug crimes, particularly along the border, around border crossings, in the sea and at hot spots;

- to complete and submit to the Prime Minister for approval the draft National Strategy on Drug Control in Vietnam to 2020.
