HCM City leader receives new Canadian Consul General

At the reception, Mr.Kyle Nunas said Canada advocated  strengthening relationship and connection with the Asia-Pacific region, treasured the role of ASEAN and desired to promote further cooperation with Viet Nam and Ho Chi Minh City. 

Viet Nam is the leading trade partner of Canada among the ten countries of ASEAN, the consul general said.

In the previous time, the two- way trade turnover between Vietnam and Canada increased 20- 25% a year, reaching nearly US$ 5 billion. 

Canadia's direct investment in the country reached over US$ 5 billion. 

In turn, the chairman appreciated the cooperative relationship between Canada and Viet Nam, including Ho Chi Minh City, in many fields.

The city has promoted cooperative programs with Canada, and hoped the partner would strengthen further cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City in the fields of infrastructure, education, building smart city and the water supply system, and other, he added.
