Agriculture-aquatic-forestry sector gains trade surplus of US$5.85 bln in nine months

The exports of agricultural and aquatic products reached US$14.38 billion and US$5.91 billion, up 17.7% and 18.1%, respectively. 

Rice exports in reviewed months attained 4.75 million tons, worth US$2.02 billion, up 20.8% in volume and 18.6% in value. 

China was the largest rice importer of Viet Nam, accounting for 38.8% of the total. 

Rubber exports obtained 979,000 tons, valued at US$1.66 billion, up 13.3% in volume and up 52.7% in value. 

The exports of tea and cashew were estimated at 103,000 tons and 32,000 tons, worth US$165 million and US$320 million, respectively. 

Remarkably, Viet Nam gained US$2.64 billion from exporting vegetables and fruits, up 44.2%. Main importers of Vietnamese vegetables and fruits include China, Japan, the U.S. and the Republic of Korea, making up 85%. 

Wood and wooden products exports in nine months saw a year-on-year increase of 18.1%, reaching US$5.91 billion. The U.S., Japan, China and the Republic of Korea were among the largest importers of Viet Nam’s wood and wooden products, accounting for 55.6%. 

The imports of agriculture-aquatic-forestry products in nine months achieved US$21.15 billion, up 19%. 

Thus, the sector ran a trade surplus of US$5.85 billion.
