PM meets Ambassadors, Deputy Chief of Mission

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc on September 27 hosted receptions for the Ambassadors of Sweden and Australia and Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan, to Viet Nam on the sidelines of the conference on sustainable and climate-resilient development of the Mekong Delta.

At the meeting with Swedish Ambassador to Viet Nam Pereric Hogberg, the PM expected that the Ambassador will do more for the Viet Nam-Sweden cooperative relations. 

The Ambassador affirmed that Sweden is concerned about the development of the Mekong Delta region and the Swedish Government has approved a budget spending of US$5 million to support the Mekong River Commission (MRC).

During his reception for Australian Ambassador Craig Chittick, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc hoped that the Ambassador’s participation in the conference will contribute to the success of the event and accelerate the two nations’ relations more effectively. 

The Ambassador affirmed that the Australian Government will continue providing more Official Development Assistance (ODA) for Viet Nam in its socio-economic development process and mobilize more resources for Viet Nam in promoting the development of the Mekong Delta region. 

The Australian Government will support Viet Nam to improve quality and capacity in its agricultural production with new products and brand names, he added.

At the reception for Japanese Deputy Chief of Mission Jun Yanagi, PM Phuc asserted that Viet Nam attaches importance to the relationship with Japan in the spirit of Extensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia, proposing the two sides closely coordinate for the future visit of PM Shinzo Abe to Viet Nam to attend the APEC High level Week.

The Deputy Chief of Mission appraised the initiatives of the PM on organizing the conference, confirming that sustainable development and responding to climate change are pillars in the two nations’ cooperative programs.  

Japan will actively support Viet Nam to organize the APEC 2017 successfully, he said.
