PM expects German Gov't to continue support for Mekong Delta

The PM hailed the Ambassador’s participation in the conference as expressing the concerns of the German Government on the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta region. 

He asked the diplomat to convey his congratulations to Chancellor Angela Merkel over her Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Party’s victory in the German parliament election for the 2017-2021 tenure.

The Vietnamese Government thanked the effective cooperation and assistance of the German Government, he said, highlighting that the assistance has made crucial contribution to the nation’s socio-economic development, especially in terms of vocational training, energy, environmental protection and climate change adaption. 

He hoped that the German Government will continue helping the Mekong Delta establish development planning in line with each locality’s advantages. 

Viet Nam always regards Germany as a crucial partner in Europe, expecting the two sides will organize regular meetings and exchanges to promote the two sides’ relationship in the future, he asserted. 

Ambassador Christian Berger said that he will actively work with the Vietnamese relevant agencies to accelerate cooperation in climate change adaption, hoping that the two nations’ Governments will enhance cooperative relationship, heading to a better future for both sides’ people.  

He expected that the conference will propose realistic development and cooperation measures between Viet Nam and other nations and partners, including Germany to turn challenges of climate change into development opportunities in the upcoming time.
