Germany helps VN protect maritime environment

The Deputy PM expressed his thanks for contributions and support of the German Government and the GIZ for Viet Nam in fields of vocational training, energy, environmental protection and climate change adaption. 

GIZ-sponsored projects have helped support the Vietnamese Government and other ministries, agencies and localities to realize Viet Nam’s socio-economic development goals. 

In the future, the Deputy PM proposed the German side provide technical assistance in setting up development plans suitable with the advantages of each locality and inter-regional connections to improve the regional competitiveness capacity. 

He expected that the Germany and GIZ continue cooperation in policies in environmental protection, responding to calamity and climate change in the Mekong Delta as well as assistance in establishing an information system and exchanging socio-economic information to serve for setting up institution for and coordinating joint activities of the region. 

Regarding renewable energy, Deputy PM Hue suggested the German side advocate Viet Nam realizing research projects on potentials of developing renewable energy in the Mekong Delta. 

He hoped that the GIZ will help improve the human resources and establish an information system on sustainable management and use of natural resources in Viet Nam. 

Ms. Luisa affirmed that the German Government will work closely with its Vietnamese counterpart in the fields of finance and technique.

The negotiations between the two governments in 2017 and 2018 aim to build cooperation plans in the following years, she said, adding that Germany is particularly interested in coastal environmental protection in Viet Nam.

She took this occasion to invite leaders of the Vietnamese Government to attend a ceremony to be hosted by the German Embassy in Ha Noi to celebrate the Day of German Unity (October 3).
