PM chairs conference on sustainable, climate-resilient development of Mekong Delta

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc on September 27 is chairing the conference on sustainable and climate-resilient development of the Mekong Delta in the southern province of Can Tho.

With the largest scale, the event aims to garner initiatives for the Government and localities in the Mekong Delta to identify strategic solutions for sustainable development of the Mekong Delta till 2100. 

Within two days, the conference has concentrated on three main discussions. The first one, chaired by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, focuses on challenges, opportunities and measures to transit development model for the development of the Mekong Delta. 

The second concentrates on the Mekong Delta development overall plan, mobilizing and coordinating resources for the region, which is chaired by the Minister of Planning and Investment. 

The third deals with sustainable agriculture, irrigation infrastructure and prevention of natural disasters and landside.

Earlier on the afternoon of September 26, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung took a two-hour helicopter trip touring the Mekong Delta region and across the coastal areas to the Cape of Ca Mau.
