Visitors to the programme were updated with information on the most appreciated destinations in Viet Nam, such as Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park and Son Doong cave (Quang Binh province), Trang An Tourist Complex (Ninh Binh Province), Ban Gioc Waterfall (Cao Bang province), and Sapa town (Lao Cai province).

Vietnam’s excellent cuisine and its tangible and intangible cultural heritages, which have been recognised by UNESCO, were also introduced at the event.

Tedjo Iskandar from the Indonesian travel firm Destination Networking said Viet Nam should have more tour guides who can speak Indonesian language.

He also noted that flights should be connected directly to offer convenience to tourists besides operating the Jakarta-Ha Noi direct route.

Meanwhile, Akhmad Dani, director of Goodway – an Indonesian company which has been operating in the hospitality sector for 17 years, said that his company brings around 300-500 tourists to Viet Nam. He shared that the biggest difficulties facing Indonesian visitors in Viet Nam are a lack of tour guides who are fluent in the Indonesian language, and their request for Muslim Halal food.

The country has welcomed over 63,000 Indonesian tourists in the first 11 months of this year, according to data of the General Statistics Office of Viet Nam.

The event aimed to bolster the tourism cooperation between two countries.

Similar programmes are taking place in Malaysia and Singapore from December.
