First Vietnamese private orchestra makes debut

VGP - Sun Symphony Orchestra (SSO) made its debut in Ha Noi on September 20, making it the first-ever private orchestra in Viet Nam.

The orchestra was founded by businessmen and classic music lovers under the sponsor of Sun Group in non-profit model. 

It looks to become a world-class orchestra in Viet Nam; bring academic music to the public via regular concert programs; attract and nurture classical talents; and help Viet Nam’s classic music to integrate with the world. 

Especially, SSO also hopes to invite the world’s famous artists to perform in Viet Nam. 

Mr. Olivier Fabrice Ochanine who excellently overcame 120 other competitors from 23 countries at the Antal Dorati International Conducting Competition in Budapest, Hungary was selected as the Musical Director and leader of the orchestra.

At the inauguration ceremony, the SSO Executive Council also announced that it is to hold auditions ahead of its inaugural concert season. Accordingly, all auditions will be held from October 19 to 22 and will be open to both Vietnamese and foreign musicians./.
