PM directs overcoming consequences of typhoon Doksuri

The Government chief was accompanied by Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong.

Arriving by road to Quang Binh from Da Nang City on September 15, PM Phuc asked local authorities to resume power supply and repair damaged houses.

At 7pm on the same day, PM Phuc had working session with leaders of Quang Binh province to evaluate the damages caused by the typhoon and ways to overcome the consequences.

At the working session, PM Phuc decided to allocate 3,000 tons of rice from the national reserve to the central province of Quang Binh.

On the morning of September 16, PM Phuc went to Ha Tinh and Nghe An provinces to direct the overcoming of the storm consequences.

According to the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, four people were killed and eight others were injured after typhoon Doksuri swept through central region on September 15.

The typhoon, which is the 10^th hitting Viet Nam this year, caused widespread rainfall between 100-250mm in provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue and left 1.3 million people without power.

As many as 19 houses collapsed while 23,968 houses were damanged, the Committee added.

Local authorities had to evacuate 33,998 households with 116,525 people.
