Four people killed as typhoon Doksuri strikes central region

VGP – Four people were killed and eight others were injured after a powerful typhoon swept through central provinces of Viet Nam on September 15, according to the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control.

The dead included one in Thanh Hoa, one in Nghe An, one in Quang Binh and one in Thua Thien-Hue, the Committee detailed.

The typhoon, which is the 10th hitting Viet Nam this year, caused widespread rainfall between 100-250mm in the above provinces.

The Committee said the typhoon left 1.3 million people without power.

As many as 19 houses collapsed while 23,968 houses were damanged, the Committee added.

Local authorities had to evacuate 33,998 households with 116,525 people.
