DPM Vuong Dinh Hue pays European visit

VGP – Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue left Ha Noi to visit Switzerland, Belgium, the EU, Slovakia, and Geneva-based international organizations on September 11.

The visit is made at the invitations of leaders of these countries and international bodies.

The Deputy PM was accompanied by the Chairman of Ha Tinh provincial People’s Committee, leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the State Bank of Viet Nam, and the Office of the Government.

Via the visit, Deputy PM Hue hoped to promote cooperation with partner countries; cement and deepen relations with Switzerland, Belgium, Slovakia, the EU, and the international organizations.

Specifically, Deputy PM Hue will pay a working visit to Switzerland and Geneva-based international bodies from September 12-15. Via the visit, Deputy PM Hue hoped to beef up cooperation in trade, investment, development cooperation, finance-banking, education-training, urban development, and tourism. Mr. Hue is expected to work with Head of the Swiss Federal Department for Economic Affairs, Education and Research Johann Schneider-Ammann; Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Mukhisa Kituyi, World Economic Forum Executive Director Philipp Rosle, and a leader from the World Trade Organization.

From September 16-19, the Vietnamese leader will visit Belgium and the EU to bolster linkages in energy, environmental technology, maritime transport, agro-processing; discuss with the EU and the bloc’s members on the implementation of the EU-Viet Nam Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation (PCA); the early signing and ratification of the Viet Nam-EU Free Trade Agreement. During the visit to Slovakia, scheduled on September 20-22, Deputy PM Hue will meet with the Slovakian PM, hold talks with a Slovakian counterpart to beef up cooperation in trade-investment, energy, education, and culture.

In addition, the Vietnamese leader will attend other activities including investment promotion round tables in Belgium and Slovakia and partake in the 40th anniversary of Viet Nam’s accession to the EU./.
