ASEAN, Hong Kong to sign FTA in November

VGP – ASEAN and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China (HKC) have announced the conclusion of talks on a free trade agreement and a related investment deal.

The two sides expect to sign the two documents in November this year.

Free trade negotiations between the ASEAN and Hong Kong began in July 2014.

According to Hong Kong’s statistics, ASEAN-Hong Kong merchandise trade value reached US$106.8 billion in 2016 while the two-way service trade stood at around US$15.5 billion in 2015.

Total foreign direct investment flows from Hong Kong to ASEAN reached $27.9 billion in 2015, making ASEAN the 6^th biggest investment destination of Hong Kong./.
