UNDP, HCMC increase cooperation

VGP - Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan received UN Resident Coordinator and the United Nations Development Programmme (UNDP) Resident Representative Kamal Malhotra in Viet Nam on August 29.

At the reception, Malhotra said the UNDP wanted to build cooperative programmes with the city, focusing on creative development to enhance the city’s competitiveness and natural disaster management.

He also pledged to do his utmost to share international experience with the city in boosting startups and climate change adaption.

In turn, Nhan thanked the UN and UNDP for effective cooperation with Viet Nam during its national construction and development, saying that he hoped the UN would have more effective programs to support Viet Nam, including Ho Chi Minh City, in addressing challenges, including sharing experience in wisely using budget in different localities with different levels of development, experience in administrative reform to increase people’s satisfaction, and experience in boosting urban construction and development with sustainably developed cities in the world.

The HCMC Party Committee leader also urged Mr. Kamal Malhotra to support the city in developing criteria on assessing people’s satisfaction with public administration and their happiness in daily life.
