E-commerce sees big leap forward

VGP – At a debate on e-commerce held last week, many leading experts announced promising signs for e-commerce development in the business sector in Việt Nam.

According to the statement, last year, the percentage of software investment grew extremely high, doubling the 2007 figure and making up 46% of the total investment in IT.

Meanwhile, hardware investment decreased from 55.5% in 2007 to 39% in 2008.

The shift of investment structure shows that, after stabilizing IT infrastructure, the domestic business community started attaching attention to software application for e-commerce development.

Notably, revenues from e-commerce have witnessed year-on-year growth. In 2008, 75% of enterprises enjoyed a turnover from e-commerce, which accounted for over 5% of their total revenue. Hence, many of them are paying great attention to the use of e-commerce experts.

Moreover, another achievement of the e-commerce sector is the provision of online public services.

To boost up e-commerce in the period of 2006-10, state agencies are putting forth laws on e-commerce, assisting the business community to expand e-commerce, training manpower, and boosting up international cooperation./.
