Citibank said on Thursday that four State winners include the Việt Nam Commercial Joint-stock Bank for Foreign Trade (Vietcombank), Bank for Investment and Development of Việt Nam (BIDV), Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agirbank) and the Việt Nam Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank).

According to Citibank’s CEO Brett Krause, the annual award aims to honor banks with excellent international payment services.

The increasing number of domestic winners of the award year after year is a vivid proof of the huge progress being made by both state and joint stock banks in Việt Nam, said Mr. Krause.

Fifteen Vietnamese banks won the award last year while the figure of 2007 was 13.

Citibank has awarded Vietnamese excellent banks for seven consecutive years. It is the first American bank that was licensed to open a branch in Việt Nam in 1994.
