The plant has a designed capacity of 750MW and will generate some 4.5 billion kWh per year to the national grid when coming into operation.

Earlier on April 9, an EPC contract for the plant was signed between two contractors, Việt Nam Machinery Erection Corporation (LILAMA) and PetroVienam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC).

One day later, the German industrial giant Siemens won a $375 million contract to supply equipment to the thermo-electricity plant.

The construction of this US $524-million project is part of the Government’s efforts to ensure power supplies between 2006 and 2015.
