Viettel wins Asia-Pacific ICT Award

VGP - The Military Telecom Corporation (Viettel) was conferred the title “Emerging Market Service Provider of the Year” of the Asia Pacific ICT Awards 2009 held last week in Singapore.

The 2009 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Awards attracted many well-known firms, including Nokia, Ericsson, SingTel, ChinaMobi, ZTE, and NTT Group.

The awards included 33 titles conferred on the most outstanding ICT firms in the Asia-Pacific region.

Viettel won the award as the most deserving service provider operating in the emerging economies of developing countries.

It outperformed other contenders from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Maldives, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and India.

The evaluation was based on the some key measurement parameters, namely revenue growth; creation of new markets and industry sectors through new capabilities or combinations of capabilities; and ability to address challenges of operating in developing economies and successfully serve customer and industry needs

In 2008, Viettel was the sole Vietnamese firm in Top 100 of the world’s telecommunications trademarks, and one of the four best telecommunications service providers in developing nations, according to the World Communication Awards.
