The event is co-organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank (WB).

It is associated with the informal mid-year review meeting of the Consultative Group for Việt Nam (CG), scheduled to take place in Buôn Mê Thuột City, in the Central Highlands province of Đắc Lắk, on June 8-9.

Addressing the event, MPI Minister Võ Hồng Phúc stressed that the forum is a good opportunity for leaders of the Vietnamese ministries, sectors, business community, and sponsors to frankly exchange their views on current challenges faced by Việt Nam and propose feasible solutions for a more transparent and better business environment in Việt Nam.

Leaders of the Ministry of Finance, General Department of Taxation, State Securities Commission, State Bank of Việt Nam (SBV), MPI, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Labor-War Invalids and Social Affairs, Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of Culture-Sports and Tourism, National Administration of Tourism, and the Maritime Administration had thorough discussions with foreign businesses and investors about many issues.

Participants will be introduced with the Government-advocated project on administrative procedures simplification (Project 30 in short).

Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Việt Nam (EuroCham) Alain Cany hailed the Government's decision to cut down personal income tax rate for foreigners working in Việt Nam, thus attracting a large number of foreign experts to the country.

EuroCham pledged to help Việt Nam perfect the business environment and remove all rest obstacles in its integration into the World Trade Organization (WTO), he stated.

Mr. Ashok Sud, Chairman of the VBF’s banking group, highly spoke of the country's stimulus packages and measures to keep trade deficit at a low rate over the past five months.

Participants all agreed that, Việt Nam should focus on maintaining its competitiveness in the international markets; minimizing external impacts by improving domestic business environment and creating favorable conditions for private sector to further engage in infrastructure development.
