Hi-tech optical fiber factory built in South VN

VGP – The construction of an optical fiber plant with the investment of US $176 million, the most advanced of its kind in Southeast Asia, started on Wednesday in the southern province of Bình Dương.

UPC and VFO sign technology transfer contract

The four-hectare plant will not only meet the domestic demand but also serve export to Europe, the US, Australia and Asia.

The plant is the first one in Southeast Asia equipped with hi-tech production line to make 1 million kilometers of optical fibers 2.0 per year, said Mr. Nguyễn Đình Thi, chairman of the investor, Viet Fiber Optic Corporation (VFO).

Israeli firm UPC already contracted with VFO for transferring its optical fiber technology.

The project was acknowledged as a great effort to boost hi-tech cooperation between Việt Nam and Israel.
