Vice State President meets with Japanese Royal Family

VGP – Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh paid a courtesy visit to Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko and met with Crown Prince Naruhito on May 11 when she is visiting Japan and attending the 27th Global Summit of Women (GWS).

Meeting with Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, the Vice State President conveyed regards of Vietnamese top leaders to the couple. Ms. Thinh emphasized that the first State visit by the royal pair to Viet Nam in February is an important milestone and a symbol of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. The successful visit created favorable ways for further developments in the strategic ties between Viet Nam and Japan, especially in culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, she added.

In return, Emperor Akihito affirmed his support for the bilateral ties; hoping that on the basis of cultural and historic similarities, the bilateral ties will reach new heights in the future.   

At the meeting with Crown Prince Naruhito, Vice State President Thinh hoped that the Japanese Royal Family and the crown prince in particular will continue supporting the strengthening and deepening of the friendship and cooperation between the nations. 

The Vietnamese leader took the occasion to invite the crown prince to visit Viet Nam on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Viet Nam-Japan diplomatic ties in 2018. 

Crown Prince Naruhito believed that the attendance of the Vietnamese Vice State President at the 27th GWS in Japan will contribute to beefing the growing relations between the two countries./.
