PM wraps up official tour to two neighboring countries

VGP - The official visits made by PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc to Cambodia and Laos wrapped up successfully, contributing to nurturing the special trustful political relations and boosting practical cooperation in all fields between Viet Nam and the two countries, said a senior official.

Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Dinh Quy made the point in an interview granted to media on the outcomes of the visits which took place from April 24-27.

Mr. Quy said during the visits, PM Phuc and his Cambodian and Lao counterparts discussed many issues, including long-standing problems related to border, the Vietnamese community and the promotion of economic and educational cooperation.

The two sides agreed on orientations and specific measures to intensify bilateral ties and deal with existing difficulties, reflected through the signing of 13 agreements ranging from transport, trade, education, energy, agriculture to cooperation between their localities.

They attained achievements in discussions about the legal status of the Vietnamese expatriates in Cambodia and an agreement allowing Laos to manage and use several port wharfs in Ha Tinh province’s Vung Ang economic zone.

Specifically, within the framework of the visits, the Viet Nam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2017 and the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2017 were launched.

The official tours of the Government leader once again affirm Viet Nam’s determination to maintain and tighten its special solidarity with Cambodia and Laos.

The visits created a new motivation to promote Viet Nam’s relations with the two countries more practically and effectively, Deputy FM Quy said./.
