The event is a forum for regional radio broadcasters to share experience and specify development orientations for the industry to better meet the need of the public.

The three-day event, attracts hundreds of delegates who are workers in the radio broadcasting industry and communications specialists from all over the world.

The conference provides a platform for learning, sharing and innovating, as well as providing perspectives on content among regional broadcasters.

Radio Asia 2017 has promoted the notion that collaborative content is key to future broadcasting, adding that reaching out to audiences to create a public dialogue will enhance public trust and help the radio format remain relevant into the digital age.

In the opening speech, ABU Secretary-General Javad Mottaghi said this year’s conference is important as the radio broadcasting industry are facing challenges posed by other types of media and social networks. If the industry does not make changes to adapt to the public, it will be left behind.

Therefore, the 2017 conference is themed “Creating Radio with Passion: Looking into the World of Radio,” he noted.

The event organised by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), held annually since 2006.
