Vietnamese, Lao PMs launch VN-Laos Friendship Year 2017

Speaking at the ceremony, the PMs affirmed the meaning of the year 2017 as the two countries are celebrating the 55^thanniversary of diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962) and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Amity and Cooperation Treaty (July 18, 1977).

PM Phuc hailed the two nations’ close cooperation in politics, national defense and security, education-training, culture and social affairs.

He supposed that the Viet Nam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year will help enhance communications on Viet Nam-Laos special relationship for all people, especially among youths and students.

The two sides’ ministries, agencies and localities have joined hands in organizing a number of activities to celebrate the event from the beginning of 2017, said PM Thongloun Sisoulith, highlighting the meaning of the event on the occasion of Vietnamese PM’s official visit to Laos.

The two leaders expected that the Viet Nam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year will be successful, contributing to promoting the traditional, special and comprehensive relationship between the two nations more sustainably.
