PM attends Tra Vinh investment, tourism promotion conference

The event also drew the attendance of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front’s President Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Promising potentials

PM Phuc stressed that Tra Vinh province locates on the banks of the Tien and Hau rivers and the East Sea to the east. It boasts for a number of river and sea ports which are able to handle big vessels. He hoped that the province would become a new trade hub in the South or even the country and a complex of aquatic production, high-tech agricultural production.

The PM was convinced that the goal would be fulfilled with an asynchronous infrastructure system of three national roads namely 53, 54 and 60.  

In the coming time, the Government would build the Dai Nghia bridge which would connect western provinces and Can Tho.

In addition, with nearly-70-km coastline and large rivers, Tra Vinh province owns vast potentials for aquatic cultivation and fishing, wind and solar energy, and processing of industrial plants like rice, coconut, peanut, sugarcane, and fruits.

The province also has a population of nearly 1.2 million,  including 59% in working age. It is home to three cultures of the Kinh, Khmer, and Chinese with unique festivals.

Converting potentials into opportunities

PM Phuc saidTra Vinh should attract investors who are familiar to local potentials, strength, natural conditions, culture, history, and religion.

He proposed the Mekong Delta province build a sustainable socio-economic development connectivity modal with a view to optimizing advantages; overcoming difficulties; and actively responding to climate change.

Tra Vinh was suggested to review planning of industrial parks; develop value chains; attract FDI, and private investment.

The Government chief also recommended Tra Vinh take active steps to beef up regional connectivity with Soc Trang and Ben Tre provinces.

He also noted the importance of applying scientific and technological advances to build famous brand names./.
