PM asks for prompt measures to search for missing crew

The Ministry of Defense dispatches modern navy ship to support search and rescue efforts

The Telegraph says:

Regarding the nine missing crewmen after cargo shipwreck in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, the PM sent condolences to crewmen and their relatives, requiring that:

1- The Ministry of Transport hosts and cooperates with the Viet Nam National Search & Rescue Committee, the Ministry of Defense and other related ministries and agencies to urgently launch measures to seek for missing crewmen and coordinates with the Ministry of Public Security to clarify the cause of the accident.

2- Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province’s People’s Committee and the owners of the cargo ship visit and encourage the rescued crewmen and relatives of the missing.

3- The Ministry of Transport directs the Viet Nam Maritime Administration and relevant agencies to strengthen inspection and management of maritime transport to ensure safety and prevent similar incidents.

The Hai Thanh 26, with 11 crew members on board, sank about 44 nautical miles east of Vung Tau City in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province while carrying clinker from the northern city of Hai Phong to the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho. Two of the sailors have been rescued, according to the Viet Nam Maritime Search and Rescue Center (MRCC).

Nine Vietnamese men are still missing after their cargo ship collided with an unknown vessel and sank in the waters off the country's southern coast.
