State President receives new Ambassadors

Welcoming Kiwi Ambassador Wendy Irene Matthews to Viet Nam, the State President suggested the two sides identify roadmap heading to upgrade the relationship to Strategic Partnership, establish Viet Nam-New Zealand Action Plan in the new period and soon organize the sixth session of the Joint Committee on economic and trade cooperation.

The State leader asked the Ambassador to uphold his role to strengthen cooperation between the two nations’ ministries, agencies, localities and businesses with the aim of raising the two-way trade turnover to US$1.7 billion by 2020.

Viet Nam expects New Zealand to make contribution to the success of Viet Nam APEC 2017, said Mr. Quang, conveying his invitation to Kiwi PM to attend the APEC High-Level Week in Viet Nam.

Ambassador Wendy Irene Matthews affirmed that New Zealand hopes to promote relationship with Viet Nam for prosperity, peace and stability in the region.

At the reception for East Timor’s Ambassador Pascoela Barreto dos Santos, the Vietnamese leader affirmed Viet Nam’s policy to attach importance to the relationship with East Timor in both bilateral and multi-lateral frameworks.

He proposed the Ambassador enhance delegation exchanges at all levels to raise the mutual knowledge and belief as well as expand cooperation between the two sides.

Ambassador Pascoela Barreto dos Santos confirmed to encourage the Vietnamese businesses to invest and launch operation in East Timor, especially in terms of communications, committing to coordinating with the Vietnamese functional agencies to boost bilateral cooperation in such areas as economics, trade and investment.

Receiving the Ivory Coast’s Ambassador Dosso Adama, State President Quang highly valued the active cooperation between the Ivory Coast and Viet Nam at international forums.

He affirmed the crucial role of the Ivory Coast as the second largets trade partner of Viet Nam in Africa, especially in terms of cashew and rice, suggesting the Ivory Coast’s Government facilitate Viet Nam to directly export rice to the African nation and negotiate to sign important agreement, including the double tax avoidance agreement and the investment protection agreement.

The Ambassador stressed the main task of establishing a channel for high-ranking delegation exchanges and trade promotion for Vietnamese products to penetrate into the Ivory Coast.

At his meeting with Rwandan Ambassador to Viet Nam Charles Kayonga, the State President expressed his hope to strengthen cooperation with Rwanda in fields of health care, education and agriculture.

The Ambassador expected that Viet Nam will share development experience and encourage more businesses to invest in Rwanda.

During the reception for Slovenian Ambassador Janez Premoze, Mr. Quang demanded the two sides actively organize sessions in the first half of 2017 to boost trade and investment.

He hoped that the two sides will soon conclude negations and sign the double tax avoidance agreement and mutual recognition agreement for further bilateral cooperation, requiring Slovenia to urge the EU to sign the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and recognize Viet Nam as a market economy.

Ambassador Janez Premoze asserted to strengthen cooperation with Viet Nam in all areas, expecting the EVFTA will soon come into effect to promote the two sides’ economic and trade relations.
