PM holds phone talks with US President-elect

The Vietnamese Government chief congratulated Mr. Trump on his election as the 45th President of the US, affirming that Viet Nam attaches importance to the friendship and cooperation with the US.

Meanwhile, President-elect Trump spoke highly of the achievements Viet Nam gained over the past time as well as the positive developments in the bilateral ties.

He also asserted he wishes to cooperate with Viet Nam to accelerate the relationship between the two countries.

The two took the occasion to discuss on orientations and measures to strengthen economic, trade and investment ties in the time to come.

Viet Nam and the US decided to establish comprehensive partnership in July 2013 to provide an overarching framework for advancing the relationship.

The new comprehensive partnership creates mechanisms for cooperation in areas including political and diplomatic relations, trade and economic ties, science and technology, education and training, environment and health, war legacy issues, defense and security, protection and promotion of human rights, and culture, sports, and tourism./.
