Three new laws announced

The Presidential Office announced three new laws freshly adopted at the 2nd session of the 14th National Assembly last month at a press conference in Ha Noi on December 12.

They are the Law on Amendments and Supplements to Article 6 and Appendix 4 on the list of conditional business lines of the Investment Law, the Law on Property Auctions, and the Law on Belief and Religion.

Vietnamese top legislator begins UAE tour

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation arrived in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), for the 11th Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament.

The visit was made at the invitation of President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Saber Chowdhury and President of the Federal National Council of the UAE Amal Al Qubaisi. 

VN treasures relations with UAE: NA Chairwoman

Viet Nam always attaches importance to the friendship and all-round cooperation with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – one of its leading partners in trade, investment and labor in the Middle East, said National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

The top Vietnamese legislator made the statement at a meeting with Sheikha Lubna Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance of the UAE, in Abu Dhabi on December 12 as part of her activities in the country to attend the 11th Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament.

NA Chairwoman congratulated the host on her election as the UAE’s Minister of State for Tolerance, saying that the appointment shows the country’s determination to improve the life quality and satisfaction of the people, and promote tolerance – a basic value that is highly valued in the UAE. 

PM adopts adjustments to ODA-funded economic restructuring project

The PM has approved adjustments to an investment plan for the project “The Restructuring for a More Competitive Viet Nam” using non-refundable official development assistance (ODA) from the Australian Government.

Accordingly, the project will focus on studying impacts of economic restructuring on gender equality; examining policy on competitiveness and revising the Law on Competition; supervising the enforcement of the enterprise and investment laws, and the implementation of commitments to the European Union (EU) and the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).  

Chinese Party official calls for deeper relations with VN

The parties of China and Viet Nam should enhance high-level delegation exchanges, reinforce political trust, promote strategic connectivity, and effectively control disputes, for healthy and stable ties between the two parties and countries, a senior party official of China has said.

Zhao Leji, member of the Communist Party of China’s Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee Secretariat and head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Department, made the remarks during talks with Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission, in Beijing on December 11.

Rubber export hits over US$ 4 billion

As of late November, overseas shipment of rubber valued US$ 4.36 billion, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

The MARD reported that Viet Nam earned US$ 1.66 billion from exporting natural rubber abroad. In addition, the country also exported US$ 1.5 billion of rubber products like tires and rubber spare parts and US$ 1.2 billion of rubber wood.

VN opposes China’s celebration of so-called island recovery

Viet Nam adamantly opposes the Chinese Navy’s commemoration of the so-called 70 years of the recovery of two archipelagoes in the East Sea, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Hai Binh said on December 12.

He made the statement while answering reporters’ question about Viet Nam’s response to the Chinese Navy’s marking of the so-called 70 years of recovering Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands on December 8./.
