Operation of National Committee for APEC 2017 regulated

VGP - PM Nguyen Tan Dung has signed a decision regulating the operation of the National Committee for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum hosted by Viet Nam in 2017.

Accordingly, the Committee’s Head will monitor and decide preparations and organization of related meetings and activities of the forum; issue decisions on establishing sub-committees and a secretariat and regulating their operation; supplement or adjust the committee’s members based on realities and actual requirements; approve the event’s schedule and a master plan on preparations and organization in order to report to high-level leaders.
 
The Secretariat is a standing agency supporting the  Committee under direct directions of the Committee's Head. It is in charge of coordinating operation of sub-committees and relevant agencies and localities related to the hosting. The Secretariat’s members are the Senior Officials’ Office (SOM) and specialized groups. The Secretariat’s Head is also SOM Chairman (Deputy Foreign Minister).
 
The National Committee was assigned to host meetings and activities in the High-level Week while the Secretariat was asked to organize SOM and related meetings and coordinate with other relevant agencies to hold the Foreign-Economic Inter-Ministerial Meeting and related activities.
 
Specialized ministries and agencies were asked to host ministerial and equivalent specialized meetings, meetings of working groups and APEC centers, as well as related activities approved by the National Committee.
 
Ministries and agencies coordinating committees and working groups of the APEC in the 2016-2018 were assigned to host related meetings and activities.
 
The Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry was required to organize the Business Summit, the Dialogue between High-level Leaders with the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), the ABAC Meeting and businesses’ activities approved by the National Committee.
 
Sub-committees and the secretariat were asked to monitor, coordinate and support relevant agencies in organizing, preparing contents and addressing arising matters./.
