Prime Minister receives RoK, Sri Lankan ambassadors

Welcoming RoK Ambassador Lee Hyuk, PM Phuc affirmed that the two countries’ strategic cooperative partnership has seen progresses in security, politics, defense, international cooperation, investment, trade, and ODA.
 
Currently, the RoK ranks first in investment, third in trade, and second in providing official development assistance (ODA) for Viet Nam, he noted.
 
The free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries will promote bilateral cooperation in economics, trade, investment, and labor.
 
He said he hopes there will be a new wave of Korean investment in Viet Nam now that Viet Nam has joined the TPP, Phuc told hid guest.
 
He suggested both nations intensify people-to-people diplomacy to tighten bilateral friendship and organise activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties in 2017.
 
Ambassador Huyk said many Korean businesses are keen to invest in Viet Nam in a number of areas such as energy, transport, and finance. 
 
He said he hopes two-way trade will grow more rapidly to reach the US$70 billion target by 2020. 
 
Meeting with Sri Lankan Ambassador Saranya Hasathi Urgodawatt Dissanayke, PM Phuc stated that the two countries should intensify economic cooperation as bilateral trade reached just US$200 million in 2015.
 
The diplomat diplomat promised to accelerate the signing of cooperative agreements in trade, investment and tourism with Vietnam and pledged her best effort to further foster the two nations’ relations, especially in trade.
